Hringariki year 1052

King Harald, stepbrother of Olav "The Holy", is building a new viking ship. He is determined to sail west - further than any viking has before him. A ship faster and more agile than ever before. And he is willing to invest deeply and hire the best people. He has called upon the best ship builders in the known world. They are on their way north.

Ringerike or Hringariki is the home of

The everyday life of most Vikings primarily consisted of hunting, fishing, and farm work. In June DNV will set sail for Hringariki and the year 1052, where you will experience a day as a Viking. We will work in the smithy, work textiles, build Viking ships, and prepare the farewell dinner for Harald Hardrada, who is about to embark on another journey with his warriors.

This is a perfect activity for building and strengthening your team, whether it's celebrating milestones, educating future leaders, or general team-building.

A full day of food, drinks, storytelling, learning, and activities included.

Hardraade vikingskipforening

The Hardraade Viking Ship Association has initiated a project to build a full-scale Viking ship, which will sail on Lake Tyrifjorden. The ship will be constructed in a traditional manner, using authentic materials as much as practically possible, mirroring the methods employed during the Viking Age.

The name "Hardraade" is derived from the renowned Viking king Harald Hardraade (1015-1066), who hailed from Stein Farm in Ringerike. Stein Farm is situated by Steinsfjorden, and Hardraade ventured far and wide with his ships. Therefore, it is fitting that a ship on Lake Tyrifjorden bears his name.
