Feasting with Harald Hardraade

- An authentic viking culinary experience

The Hardraade Viking Ship Association is proud to present their head Chef Bangkokk who will show us how to prepare a true royal viking feast.

Together with your colleagues in DNV, you will part take in preparing a viking feast for King Harald and his crew. In the birthplace of many famous viking kings like Olav "The Holy" and Harald Hardråde youfind Hringariki, surrounding the second largest lake in Norway.

Food in the Viking era

The range and availability of foods during the viking age was much less than today. Then again their food was 100% ecological, sustainable and fresh. They cooked mainly with seasonable produce.

You are invited to an evening where you will learn about ingredients and techniques used 1000 years ago. And even though this was a time of frugality, our ancestors knew how to create a proper feast when they invited guests. With your own cup, knife, and a hearty appetite, we will relive this experience now. SKÅL!

Hardraade Vikingskipforening

The Hardraade Viking Ship Association has initiated a project to build a full-scale Viking ship, which will sail on Lake Tyrifjorden. The ship will be constructed in a traditional manner, using authentic materials as much as practically possible, mirroring the methods employed during the Viking Age.

The name "Hardraade" is derived from the renowned Viking king Harald Hardraade (1015-1066), who hailed from Stein Farm in Ringerike. Stein Farm is situated by Steinsfjorden, and Hardraade ventured far and wide with his ships. Therefore, it is fitting that a ship on Lake Tyrifjorden bears his name.
